What is holism then? Well, it is the idea that every system, with its characteristics, qualities — and faults too — must be considered as a whole, not just an algebraic sum of discrete parts. This means that a holistic approach to design involves a multidisciplinary vision that mixes together skills from various fields of expertise into one powerful, wider and sensitive craft.

I am a self-taught, economy-guided, and beauty-driven multidisciplinary designer with 6+ years of experience.
Let me explain.
I studied Building Engineering and Architecture at Pisa University, but I early discovered that what I loved was not the technical or formal aspect of a project. I was not into architecture and engineering because of the physical result nor the technological solution themselves, but because of the message. Because of the idea communicated and the emotions fostered in people by it and its execution.
I learned how time, energy and resources have to be carefully balanced to accomplish every project's goal. That each project has its peculiarities, context, constraints, and players, and all of these elements define its economy. The output should always be guided by this economy and never forget any of those elements.
Far from being functionalist, I believe that form follows function. But I do believe too that sometimes beauty and happiness should be the purpose of what we design.
